Known for using silhouettes of nature and vibrant colors in her custom paintings, Shawna Boulette Grapentine is an Ojibwe Cree whose artwork highlights the beauty of Indigenous culture, her love for mother earth and everything that surrounds her.
Experience “Immersed in Color, Inspired by Her Culture and Nature” at the Warroad RiverPlace art gallery through May 17, 2025. It is free to visit Tuesday through Saturday, 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Macalester College African Music Ensemble
For the past six years, master drummer, composer, and internationally-recognized enthnomusicologist Sowah Mensah has partnered with the Warroad Elementary Music Department to bring African music and culture alive in the classroom. On Saturday, January 18, Sowah and his 30-piece African Music Ensemble from Macalester College in St. Paul will lift up their voices and perform with a variety of African instruments including xylophones, marimbas, flutes, horns, and an assortment of drums and gourds.
This event is free and open to the public.

Snowshoeing is a popular winter activity. Enjoy it even more by making your very own wood-framed heirloom snowshoes, featuring the all-purpose Ojibwa style (11” x 54”), with larger and smaller sizes available as needed.
